MANDATOS AFIRMATIVOS To tell a friend/close family member to do something, use the tú command form. To form affirmative tú commands for regular verbs, use the él/ella/Ud. form of the verb in the present tense. Attach reflexive, direct, and indirect object pronouns to the end of affirmative commands. Add an accent mark to show that the stress remains in the same place (verb). ¡Toma esas vitaminas! ¡Tómalas ahora mismo! Siéntate aquí.

MANDATOS NEGATIVOS To form negative tú commands with regular verbs: –change the verb to the ‘yo’ form in the present tense hablar = hablo –drop the –o habl- –add –es for AR verbs and –as for ER/IR verbs No hables ahora. **The same rule applies for those verbs with irregular ‘yo’ forms.

MANDATOS NEGATIVOS Verbs ending in -car, -gar, and -zar have spelling changes in the negative tú commands to keep the original sound. -car (c  qu) sacar = saqu + es  No saques la basura. -gar (g  gu) llegar = llegu + es  No llegues tarde. -zar (z  c) cruzar = cruc + es  No cruces aquí.

MANDATOS NEGATIVOS When using reflexive or object pronouns with negative commands, place them after no. EJEMPLOS: Estás enfermo. No te levantes de la cama. No comas el pastel. No lo comas.
