Making Comparisons English: 1. sometimes “er” (Ex. smarter, bigger) 2. other times, “more + adj + than” OR “less + adj + than” (Ex. more intelligent than, less attractive than) Spanish: 1. Do not use “er” 2. ONLY “más + adj + que” “menos + adj + que”

Grande The elephant is bigger than the fish. Pez Elefante The elephant is bigger than the fish. El elefante es más grande que el pez.

Grande The fish is smaller (less big) than the elephant. Pez Elefante The fish is smaller (less big) than the elephant. El pez es menos grande que el elefante.

Tranquilo The dog is less calm than the cat. perro gato The dog is less calm than the cat. El perro es menos tranquilo que el gato.
