2 COMPARISONS OF A HIGHER DEGREE To express inequality of a higher degree in English you say tall er, small er, short er, fast er, etc. In Spanish, instead of taller you say more tall ; instead of faster you say more fast, for shorter use more short. Usemás… que when you compare adjectives. Diego es más alto que tú. Diego is taller than you. Yo soy más atlética que Esteban. Tú eres más simpático que Carolina.

4 COMPARISONS OF A LESSER DEGREE To show that something is less than something else use: menos… que (less… than) when comparing adjectives Mario es menos divertido que David. Mario is less fun than David. Yolanda es menos inteligente que Ernesto. Yolanda is less intelligent than Ernesto. Somos menos estudiosos que Oscar. We are less studious than Oscar.

6 COMPARISONS OF EQUALITY When things of equal characteristics are being compare use: tan… como (as… as) when comparing adjectives. Soy tan alto como Fabio. I am as tall as Fabio. Mi amigo es tan artístico como Regina. My friend is as artistic as Regina.

8 COMPARING VERBS If you compare things you do use: más que Como más que mi amiga. menos que Ana corre menos que Trini. tanto como Me gusta hacer la tarea tanto como correr.

To say that a person is younger than someone else use menor que. For a plural subject use menores que. Soy menor que mi hermano. Somos menores que mi hermana.

11 BETTER OR WORSE To say that someone or something is better use mejor que. For plural subjects use mejores que. Mi libro es mejor que tu libro. Mis libros son mejores que tus libros. To say that someone or something is worse use peor que. For plural subjects use peores que. Mi libro es peor que tu libro. Mis libros son peores que tus libros.
