INDIRECT OBJECT. The indirect object is the person/thing who receives the direct object and who benefits from the action of the verb. Let’s review it in English> “Phil throws the ball to Liam” 1.Who is the subject? (person that completes the action): Phil 2.What is the direct object? (what does Phil throw?): The ball. 3.What is the indirect object ? (the person who receives the direct object, this is, the ball): Liam.

INDIRECT OBJECT. The indirect object is the person that receives the action of the verb. It answers the question “For whom” or “to whom”. En español “a quién o para quién”. “El peluquero corta el pelo a mi madre”. To whom? ¿A quién? El peluquero corta el pelo a mi madre. Mi madre receives the action of the verb.

INDIRECT OBJECT Identifica el objeto indirecto or indirect object : El trabajador social da consejos a los estudiantes. Yo digo hola a Pedro. El policia ayuda a la gente. Mi madre da un chocolate a mí. La profesora da los exámenes a nosotros El mecánico arregla el carro a mi padre. Yo lanzo la pelota a María. María dice “adiós” a ti.

INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS. stands for The indirect Object pronoun stands for that indirect noun : El peluquero corta el pelo a mi madre. El peluquero le corta el pelo. Le replaces mi madre. The indirect pronouns are : ME-Me TE-You LE-Him, her and You (usted) NOS-Us OS-You LES-Them, you (ustedes)

INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS Replace the indirect object with a pronoun : El trabajador social da consejos a los estudiantes. Yo digo hola a Pedro. El policia ayuda a la gente. INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS Where do we place them? The same as Direct object pronouns> Before conjugated verb and negative commands: No le cortes el pelo a mi madre. El profesor nos da los exámenes. Attached to infinitive (-ar,-er,-ir), gerund (-ando, iendo) and positive command: Tengo que cortarle el pelo. Estoy dandoles los exámenes. Dame la comida!

INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS Since Le and Les can refer to more than one person sometimes we can specify or clarify who we are talking about by using A+ person after. La profesora les da los exámenes a María y Pedro. Ella le arregla el carro a la profesora. Mario le lanza la pelota a a Pedro
