POSSESSION/OWNERSHIP: SPANISH There are 2 ways to show possession/ownership in Spanish: Use “de” La mochila de Maria (the backpack of Maria) Use a possessive adjective Su mochila (Her backpack)

Instead of adding ‘s, Spanish uses this formula: Noun + de + owner Maria’s sweater = El suéter de María Ana’s shoes= Los zapatos de Ana Claudia’s skirt= La falda de Claudia David’s t-shirts Las camisetas de David

¿De quién es? Use the expression ¿De quién es + object? to ask who owns something singular. To answer use the expression Es de + owner Ex. ¿De quién es el vestido? Es de María.

“SU” and “SUS” “su libro” can mean many different things: his book her book their book your book
