¿Singular o Plural? ¿Femenino o Masculino? In Spanish all nouns have GENDER. Which means that they can be Feminine or Masculine. Ex: La casa, El árbol, El toro, La vaca. Letters of the alphabet are always feminine. Languages, days of the week, mountains, rivers and oceans are masculine el español, el lunes, los Andes, el Nilo

Some nouns can refer to both genders, and we can only identify the gender once we see the article in front. Examples: The student  El estudiante / La estudiante The young person  El joven / La joven The model  El modelo / La modelo The tourist  El turista / La turista
