8 Gender of nouns in the singular
A noun in any language is a person, place, thing, or idea. In Spanish, all nouns have a gender which means all nouns in Spanish are considered either masculine or feminine. So…you’re wondering, “How can I tell if a noun is masculine or feminine,” right?! Here are a few rules for categorizing nouns in Spanish as either masculine (masculine) or feminine (feminine). It is important to keep that in mind that these are general rules that most nouns do follow, but there are always exceptions!

9 Gender of nouns in the singular
Masculine nouns in Spanish: Nouns will usually end in: -o, -n, -r, -s, -e, -l, -ma, -pa Hint: You can remember loners, ma-pa Feminine nouns in Spanish Nouns will usually end in: -a, -coin, -sión, -tad, -dad, -tud 4. All of the nouns above are singular nouns, which implies that there is one of the noun. (Think of the word “single” – it means “one”. This is where the word “singular” comes from.)

10 Gender of nouns in the plural
If there is more than one of a noun, we say that the noun is a plural noun. Plural means more than one. In English, we often form the plural of a noun by adding “-s” or “-es” to the end of a noun. In Spanish, we form the plural a noun by following the following rules: If a noun ends in a vowel (a, e, i, o, u), add an “s” to the end of the noun. If a noun ends in a consonant, add “-es” to the end of the noun. If a noun ends in a z, change the “z” to a “c” and then add “-es”

11 Articles An article in all languages is a part of speech. These are important words that often go before nouns and in English are the words the, a, and an. We divide articles into two different categories called definite and indefinite articles. A definite article refers to a more specific noun and is the word “the” in English. If you think about it, when you say “the pen” or “the pens” you are referring to a specific pen or specific pens. Indefinite articles refer to non-specific are the words “a,” “an,” and “some” in English. If you think about it, when you say, “a pen” or “some pens” you are not referring to a specific pen or specific pen. You are just talking about a pen or some pens in general. That is why these articles are called indefinite articles.
