Cláusulas con “si” If Clauses
Hay 2 tipos de cláusulas con “si”… 1. a “real” condition: Indicative (to predict future events) If A happens, B will happen If + present tense, future tense Si tengo el dinero, iré al cine. If I have the money, I will go to the movies. Si comes, no tendrás hambre. If you eat, you won’t be hungry.
OR: Si tuviera el dinero, iría al cine. 2. a “hypothetical” condition: Subjunctive If A were to happen, B would happen If + past subjunctive tense, conditional tense Si tuviera el dinero, iría al cine. If I had the money (but I don’t), I would go to the movies. Si comieras, no tendrías hambre. If you ate, you wouldn’t be hungry (but you didn’t eat and now you’re hungry).
Más ejemplos: Si yo fuera un chico, yo podría saber lo que es amar a una mujer. If I were a boy, I could know what it is to love a woman. Si Lola fuera un chico, se llamaría Lalo. If Lola were a boy, she would be named Lalo. Si viviera en españa, hablaría español. If I lived in Spain, I would speak Spanish.
Más ejemplos: Si yo estuviera en casa, yo dormiría. If I were at home, I would sleep. Si tuviéramos bicicletas, las montaríamos a la escuela. If we had bicycles, we would ride them to school. Si ganara la lotería, sería rica. If I won the lottery, I’d be rich. Si viniera a la fiesta, nos divertiríamos mucho. If she came to the party, we would have a lot of fun. Yo iría al partido si no tuviera tarea. I would go to the game, if I didn’t have homework.
