C2A NOTES: Placement of the Reflexive Pronouns

ALL pronouns can be placed: 1) In front of a conjugated verb: Me baño todos los días. 2) Attached to the infinitive: Note: The infinitive is used when it is the 2 nd verb or follows a preposition (antes de; después de; para…).Necesito bañarme. Después de bañarme… 3) Attached to a present participle: Estoy bañándome. Note: accent is needed.

NOTE: present participles end in -ANDO: estás hablando -IENDO: está comiendo -YENDO: estamos leyendo and an accent is needed when a pronoun is attached to it: ándo,iéndo,yéndo.

Because the present participle is preceded by the conjugation of ESTAR, The pronoun can be placed in front of the conjugation of estar OR attached to the present participle: Me estoy bañando. OR Estoy bañándome.

Because the infinitive is preceded by a conjugated verb, The pronoun can be placed in front of the conjugated verb OR attached to the infinitive: Me tengo que bañar. OR Tengo que bañarme.
