It has been… To tell how long you have been doing something, we use the following formula… HACE + (pd. of time) + QUE + PRESENT TENSE Hace 8 a ños que enseño espa ñol. Hace 5 minutos que aprenden esta lección. I have taught Spanish for 8 years. (not an exact translation) You have learned this lesson for 5 minutes.

To say ago… To say ago, we the following formula… HACE + (pd. of time) QUE + PRETERITE Hace 5 años que fui a un parque de diversiones. Leí The Last Lecture hace 3 meses. I went to an amusement park 5 years ago. I read The Last Lecture 3 months ago.

To ask how long its been… To ask how long its been, we the following formula… ¿CUÁNTO TIMEPO HACE QUE + PRETERITE? ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que bebiste Coca Cola? ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que leiste un libro? How long has it been since you drank a Coke? How long has it been since you read a book?
