2 Imperfect Progressive Tense
Tells what was going on at a specific time in the past, often when something else happened. Formed by combining the imperfect tense of estar with the present participle of a verb. Ex : Yo estaba pensando en comprar un suéter a cuadros.

3 Imperfect Progressive Cont.
Object pronouns: follow or attach to the present participle. This may require an accent mark. Ex: La estaba aconsejando.  Estaba aconsejándola. 2 most common progressive tenses Present Imperfect * These two tenses usually have a form of estar and a present participle.

4 Adverbs ending in -mente
-mente = -ly in English Ex : rápidamente = rapidly Adjective Feminine Form (+ mente) Adverb Especial Especial (+ mente) Especialmente Fácil Fácil (+ mente) Fácilmente Feliz Feliz (+ mente) Felizmente Necesario Necesaria (+ mente) Necesariamente Probable Probable (+ mente) Probablemente Sólo Sola (+ mente) solamente

5 Hacía (+ time) que To express an action that continued for a period of time in the past you use this pattern: haciá + (time expression) + que + (imperfect tense of a verb) Ex: Hacía una hora que andaba. I had been walking in the shopping center for an hour. When a form of ¿cuánto? Introduces a question, reverse the order of hacía and the time expression Ex: ¿Cuánto tiempo hacía que andabas por el centro commerical?
