Pedir & Servir
Pedir & Servir In some ir verbs with an e in the stem, the e changes to I in all the present tense forms except those of nosotros(as) and vosotros(as). Two such verbs are pedir (to ask for, to order) and servir (to serve)
Pedir – to ask for, to order (yo) pido (nosotros) pedimos (tú) pides (vosotros) pedís (él/ella/Ud.) pide (ellos/ellas/Uds.) piden
Pedir ¿Qué vas a pedir? What are you going to order? Siempre pido una ensalada. I always order a salad.
Servir – to serve (yo) sirvo (nosotros) servimos (tú) sirves (vosotros) servís (él/ella/Ud.) sirve (ellos/ellas/Uds.) sirven
Servir ¿Qué sirven en la cafeteria? What do they serve in the cafeteria? Sirven muchas comidas diferentes. They serve many different foods.
