Preferir, poder, and probar Preferir, poder, and probar are all stem- changing verbs. In the verb preferir, the second e becomes ie when conjugated. In the verb poder, the o becomes ue when conjugated. In the verb probar, the o becomes ue when conjugated. There is not a stem change in the nosotros form.
Preferir Preferir means to prefer. The conjugations of preferir are: Yo – prefiero Tú - prefieres Él/ella/usted – prefiere Nosotros – preferemos Ellos/ellas/ustedes - prefieren

Poder Poder means to be able to. When we conjugate it, it is like saying the word “can” in English. The conjugations of poder are: Yo – puedo Tú – puedes Él/ella/usted – puede Nosotros – podemos Ellos/ellas/ustedes - pueden

Probar Probar means to try. The conjugations of probar are: Yo – pruebo Tú – pruebas Él/ella/usted – prueba Nosotros – probamos Ellos/ellas/ustedes - prueban
