“ing” ending in Spanish: -ar : ando -er / -ir : iendo

PRESENT PROGRESSIVE

ESTAR Estoy Estás Está -er / -ir : iendo Están Estáis -ar : ando Estamos

 To make the participle (-ing), add –ando to the stem of AR verbs and –iendo to the stem of ER or IR verbs.  Ejemplos:  tomar  comer  escribir tomando comiendo escribiendo tom com escrib

CORRER – TO RUN estoy corriendo estás corriendo está corriendo estamos corriendo están corriendo estáis corriendo

-YENDO  When the stem of an –ER or –IR verb ends in a vowel, the present participle is –yendo instead of –iendo.  Leer  Oír  Traer le o tra leyendo oyendo trayendo

PRESENT PROGRESSIVE  Present progressive tense says what it being done in the moment.  Examples:  We are eating.  She is running.  I am playing.  Present progressive tense is done using “estar” plus a form of the verb.
