Formation: Rules Take the yo form of the verb in the present tense Drop the “-o” Switch the endings If it’s a stem-changer, the change occurs  *-ir stem changers: The change occurs in all forms  *-er/-ar stem changers: The change only occurs in the “shoe” and the nosotros form takes the original vowel. Hopes and Wishes Besides using the subjunctive with Impersonal Expressions (Es bueno que…), it can also be used to express a hope or a wish (such as when you want someone to do something)  El señor Zavala quiere que Isabel tome el ascensor. Mr. Zavala wants Isabel to take the elevator.  El señor Zavala sugiere que Isabel visite el Prado. Mr. Zavala suggests that Isabel visit the Prado. Pero… ¿cómo se forma una oración en el subjuntivo?

Subject #1 + verb in p. indicative (trigger) + QUE + Subject #2 + verb in p. subjunctive TWO subjects MUST be present for the sentence to use the subjunctive!
