Stem-changers e to ie All forms change except nosotros and vosotros

2 Take off the ending: -ar, -ir or -er
You are left with the stem. Stem-changing verb’s go through a vowel change in all forms except nosotros and vosotros: next to last syllable

5 Empezar + a The verb empezar is used with a when an infinitive follows. Empiezo a trabajar. I am beginning to work. Empiezas a leer un libro. You are beginning to read a book.

13 Pensar + de When combined with de, pensar is used to ask for an opinion. ¿Qué piensas de las servilletas moradas? What do you think of the purple napkins?

14 Pensar + que When combined with que, pensar is used to express your opinion or thoughts. Pienso que son bonitas. I think that they (the napkins) are pretty.

15 Pensar + en When combined with en, pensar is used to indicate whom or what someone is thinking about. Mis amigos piensan en el fin de semana. My friends are thinking about the weekend.

16 A rule for always When one verb follows another, the first one is conjugated and the second is in its infinitive form.

Yo prefiero ir de compras. We plan to watch television. They want to draw. I prefer to go shopping.
