2 Stem-Change Verbs In every verb, there are two parts: the stem and the ending. In the verb hablar, habl- is the stem and –ar is the ending. In Spanish, some verbs have a stem change in the present tense. Stem-change verbs still have their regular –ar, -er, or –ir endings. The only thing different is their stem change.

6 Stem-Change Verbs Lastly, notice that when one verb follow another, the first verb is conjugated and the second is left in its infinitive form. ¿Quieres mirar la televisión o leer un libro? Do you want to watch tv or read a book?
