7 Preterite of Stem-Changing Verbs
Rules about -ar and –er verbs that have stem changes in the present DO NOT have stem changes in the preterite!!! ONLY –ir STEM-CHANGERS STILL CHANGE IN THE PRETERITE! Preterite stem-changers rules: You use regular preterite endings The forms that change are: Él/Ella/Usted (3rd Person singular) Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes(3rd Person plural) The second-to-last vowel changes: Ou Ei -í -imos -iste X -ió -ieron dormí dormimos dormiste X durmió durmieron
