GUSTAR

RULE 1 If you are going to include the person’s name specifically- you must include “a” before the name Ex: A Sra. Firestone le gusta/gustan__________

RULE 2 The pronoun depends on the PERSON doing the liking: me (A mí – yo form) te (A tí – tú form) le (A él, ella, usted, or any singular person) nos (A nosotros/nosotras) les (A ellos, ellas, ustedes- more than one person) Gusta/Gustan depends on the ACTION/THING being liked.

RULE 3 When a verb immediately follows gusta, always use GUSTA- never gustan. Ex: A mí me gusta comer las hamburguesas. A nosotros nos gusta correr todos los días.

RULE 4 The verb after gusta will always remain in the infinitive (don’t conjugate it, leave it with the – ar, -er, -ir ending attached)

RULE 5 When an object follows gusta, use GUSTA for SINGULAR objects, and GUSTAN for PLURAL objects. Ex: Me gustan las hamburguesas. Me gusta el café.
