3 You use gusta when you’re referring to one thing you like.

4 You use gustan when you’re referring to more than one thing that are liked.

5 Indirect object pronouns As you know, we don’t conjugate “gustar” and verbs like it in the regular way. You use an indirect object pronoun to indicate who is doing the liking.

6 For yo A mi me gusta la comida china. A mi me gustan las manzanas. (I like one thing.) (I like more than one thing.)

7 For tú A ti te gusta el chocolate. A ti te gustan las uvas. (You like one thing.) (You like more than one thing.)

8 For él, ella, and usted A él le gusta la comida italiana. A ella le gustan los frijoles. A usted le gusta montar a caballo. (He likes one thing.) (She likes more than one thing.) (You [formal] like to do one thing.)

9 For nosotros/nosotras A nosotros nos gusta el béisbol. A nosotras nos gustan los huevos. (We like one thing.) (We like more than one thing.)

10 For ustedes, ellos A ustedes les gusta correr. A ustedes les gustan las chuletas. A ellos les gusta el helado. A ellas les gustan las galletas. (You guys like to do one thing.) (You guys like more than one thing.) (They like one thing.) (They like more than one thing.)

11 A few notes on verbs like gustar: The way you know who likes or dislikes something is determined by the indirect object pronoun, not the verb. Indirect object pronouns are me, te, le, nos, & les.

12 More about gustar verbs It doesn’t matter if it’s one person or more than one person doing the liking. What matters is how many things they like! The indirect object pronoun is what tells you who it is that’s going the liking! (me, te, le, nos, les)
