WHAT IS A DIRECT OBJECT? A direct object receives the ACTION of the verb. They answer the question WHAT? or WHOM?.
EXAMPLE IN ENGLISH I eat the pizza. What’s receiving the action? What is being eaten?
EXAMPLE IN ENGLISH I eat the pizza.
EXAMPLE IN SPANISH Ella lleva una camisa. What is being worn?
EXAMPLE IN SPANISH Ella lleva una camisa.
EXAMPLE IN SPANISH Ellas compran los huevos. What is being bought?

PLACEMENT When re-writing a sentence with a DOP, the DOP is put BEFORE the conjugated verb.
EXAMPLES Yo como una manzana = Yo la como
EXAMPLES Él lleva el sombrero = Él lo lleva
EXAMPLE Ellos compran los pantalones = Ellos los compran
EXAMPLE Tú vendes las bebidas=Tú las vendes
