Unequal and Equal Comparisons

Unequal Comparisons To compare two things that are not equal in Spanish we use these comparatives: Más + (adjective/adverb/noun) + que Ejemplo: Juan es más alto que Jorge. Menos + (adjective/adverb/noun) + que Ejemplo: Maria tiene menos dinero que Luís.

Unequal Comparisons Más ejemplos: Yo voy más rápido que tú. Somos más inteligentes que ustedes. David tiene menos comida que yo. Yo digo menos palabras que ella.

Irregulars For some comparative words in Spanish, you don’t need to follow the “más/menos + ____ + que” structure. These words are mayor (older), menor (younger), mejor (better), and peor (worse). Ejemplo: Somos mejores que ellos.

Equal Comparisons To compare similarities between things, Spanish uses these phrases: Tan + (adjective/adverb) + como Ejemplo: Diego es tan alto como Pablo Tanto + (noun) + como Ejemplo: Yo tengo tantos dólares como tú

Equal Comparisons Más ejemplos: Rosa es tan baja como Francisco. Julio es tan rico como yo. Tenemos tantos tacos como él. Yo hago tanto ejercicio como José.
