SER vs ESTAR SAMPLE STORY #1 La fiesta de cumpleaños

It is Marina’s B-day today. Her family is mexican. She is turning (cumplir) one. The party is at the park. It is 2 pm. There is a piñata. It is made of paper. Marina’s mother is taking (tomar) a picture. The camera (cámara) is hers. Everyone is happy. This is the clown (el payaso) that is at the party. He is ugly and scary (da miedo). He is from Italy. Marina is very sad. She runs to her mom. Now (ahora) she is happy again (otra vez).

It is Marina’s B-day today. Her family is Mexican. She is turning (cumplir) one. Su familia es mexicana. Es el cumpleaños de Marina hoy. Ella cumple un año. OR Ella está cumpliendo un año.

The party is at the park. It is 2 p.m. There is a piñata. It is made of paper. Hay una piñata. La fiesta es en el parque. Es de papel. Son las dos de la tarde.

Marina’s mother is taking a picture. The camera is hers. Everyone is happy. Todos están contentos/felices/alegres. La madre de Marina está tomando una foto/fotografía. La cámara es suya.

This is the clown (el payaso) that is at the party. He is ugly and scary (da miedo). He is from Italy. Éste es el payaso que está en la fiesta. Es feo y da miedo. Es de Italia.
