A person of character . . . Is a good person, someone to look up to and admire. Knows the difference between right and wrong and always tries to do what is right. Sets a good example for everyone. Makes the world a better place. Lives according to the “Six Pillars of Character”: TRUSTWORTHINESS, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, FAIRNESS, CARING and CITIZENSHIP

CITIZENSHIP Do Your Share Be a good citizen and a good neighbor. Care about others and pursue the common good. Be a volunteer — help your school and community be better, cleaner and safer. Protect the environment by conserving resources, reducing pollution, and cleaning up after yourself. Participate in making things better by voicing your opinion, voting, serving on committees, reporting wrongdoing and paying taxes.

CITIZENSHIP Respect Authority and the Law Play by the rules. Obey parents, teachers, coaches and others who have been given authority. Observe just laws Honor and respect the principles of democracy.

Questions to Consider What specific behaviors could all the members of the group put into practice to accomplish each one of the aspects of your slide? How can you demonstrate concretely that you are or will be a good citizen or at least try to conduct your life under the citizenship value? Da un buen ejemplo a los demás. Hace del mundo un lugar mejor. Vive de acuerdo con los “Seis Pilares del Carácter”: CONFIABILIDAD, RESPETO, RESPONSABILIDAD, JUSTICIA, BONDAD Y CIVISMO.

CIVISMO Haz tu parte Sé un buen ciudadano y un buen vecino. Preocúpate por el bien común y lucha por alcanzarlo. Haz voluntariado — ayuda a que tu escuela y comunidad sean lugares mejores, más limpios y más seguros. Protege el ambiente conservando los recursos, reduciendo la contaminación y manteniendo limpios los espacios que ensucias. Participa en hacer que las cosas mejoren, expresando tu opinión con libertad y respeto, votando, trabajando en comités, reportando las malas acciones y pagando tus impuestos.

CIVISMO Respeta la autoridad, las leyes y normas Sigue y respeta las reglas. Obedece a tus padres, maestros, entrenadores y a otras personas con autoridad. Observa que las leyes sean justas y respétalas. Respeta y honra los principios básicos de la democracia.
