Saying “the” in Spanish (Definite articles!)

Spanish nouns have gender: masculine or feminine! el / la before the noun example: el chico, la chica

“the” el / la before the noun = the example: el chico = the boy la chica = the girl *also: los/ las las galletas = the cookies

How do we know? Ending in –o usually means masculine (el chico) Ending in –a usually means feminine (la chica) other endings: memorize! example: la televisión
