PROFR. JOSÉ ENRIQUE TORRES DEL CASTILLO SIMPLE PRESENT PROFR. JOSÉ ENRIQUE TORRES DEL CASTILLO

SIMPLE PRESENT. Se utiliza para hablar de acciones que realizamos cotidianamente. Example: I eat cereal for breakfast(desayuno cereal) You practice karate. (tu practicas karate) They dance in the festival.(ellos bailan en el festival) We study highschool.(nosotros estudiamos secundaria) She plays basketball.(ella juega baloncesto) He cooks meatballs.(el cocina albondigas)

Presente simple en forma afirmativa. A diferencia del español este se escribe únicamente de una manera para todos los pronombres con excepción de las 3ras personas que son el ,ella o eso. Con las 3ras personas le agregamos una “s” al final a la mayoría de los verbos. I play I cook I read You play You cook You read We play We cook We read They play They cook They read She plays She cooks She reads He plays He cooks He reads

Pero si el verbo termina en s, sh, x, o, ch. se le agrega la terminación “es” cuando se conjuga con 3ras personas. Example: Letty teaches english. Toño washes his car. She does her homework. He fixes the car. The model dresses a mini skirt.

O bien si el verbo termina en “y” y antes de esta no hay una vocal se sustituye la “y” por “i” y se agrega la terminación “es”. Pero en caso de que antes de la “y” exista una vocal únicamente se agrega la “s”. Example: She studies medicine. He flies on wekends. She plays bowling.

Exercise: Complete the sentences using the verb in parenthesis in the correct form. I __________ soda in the lunch.(drink) The teacher ________ a lot of homework. (let) My parents ________ me money. (give) Robert _______ soccer. (play) Liz ________ to drive. (try) He _______ the homework. (do) You _______ the car. (push) We _______ in the park. (run) My boss ________ to the mall. (go) I ______ everyday. (swim)

Simple present in negative form: doesn’t don’t verb complement. En las oraciones negativas al verbo no se le agrega nada se pone en forma simple ya que los auxiliares “don’t – doesn’t” nos indican si hablamos de primera, segunda o tercera persona. Estos auxiliares no tienen traducción en español únicamente indican que estamos hablando en presente simple en forma negativa.

Examples: I don’t like your sweater. You don’t do homework. She doesn’t drive. He doesn’t study english. We don’t like terror movies. They don’t walk to go to school. Rodrigo doesn’t read the novel. Tere doesn’t bring homework. Hugo and Mary don’t work in the store.

Exercise: Complete with don’t or doesn’t The teacher ________ arrive late. My mom _________ come to joints. I _______ need a cellular. She _______ wake up early. You _______ go to classes today. My dad _______ leave me alone. Luis ______ use glasses. he _______ loose the keys. I _______ smoke. They ________ finish the exercise yet.

Simple present in interrogative form. Do verb in Does simple form comp. La forma interogativa se hace practicamente igual que una oración nada mas que aquí no agregamos nada al verbo ya que el auxiliar se encarga de decirnos de quien estamos hablando.

Examples: Do you like soccer? Do you eat sushi? Do you visit your family? Do they push the car? Do your classmates arrive early? Does she clean her room? Does he answer the exercise? Does Richie repeat the lesson? Does she think about the homework? Does the teacher change the exam?
