2 Present Simple Tense The usage The present simple is used to express: A habit in the present (it always or regularly happens) I always get up at 6 o’clock in the morning. A fact in the present (it is always true) I come from Santiago.

3 Affirmative statements: Subject+Verb (Add “S”/ es/ ies if it’s third person singular)+ comp. Ex: - I eat sushi on Mondays. - Susan eats sushi on Mondays. - My friends dance tango. - My friend dances tango.

4 The spelling rules for the third person singular (he/ she/ it) Most verbs : add( -s) Work : works Verbs ending in –ch / -sh / -ss/ -o/ -x : add (-es) Go : goes watch : watches wash : washes miss : misses fix : fixes Verbs ending in a consonant + y, change the (y) into (i) and add –es →(- ies) Study : studies fly: flies carry : carries C + y → ies Verbs ending in a vowel + y, only add (-s) Play : plays say : says pray : prays V + y → s
