WHAT IS (EXISTENCE IS CERTAIN): INDICATIVE La Sra. Boyce tiene un estudiante que SABE hablar español. ¿Conoces a la médica que HABLA alemán? Hay alguien que VENDE periódicos aquí. Vivimos en una casa que TIENE una piscina. WHAT MAY BE (EXISTENCE IS UNCERTAIN: SUBJUNCTIVE La Sra. Boyce busca un estudiante que SEPA hablar español. ¿Conoces una médica que HABLE alemán? ¿Hay alguien que VENDA periódicos aquí? Queremos vivir en una casa que TENGA una piscina.

-The personal a is omitted before a noun referring to a person whose existence is uncertain. (see 2 nd example above) It is used however, before alguien and nadie. USE personal a when the person EXISTS (INDICATIVE) OMIT personal a when the persons existence is UNCERTAIN (SUBJUNCTIVE)

Ud. conoce a un abogado que HABLA inglés. ¿Conoce una abogada que HABLE japonés? (Omitted because the existence of the person is UNCERTAIN) No conozco a nadie que HABLE chino. (Used because the sentence has NADIE)
