Reporte de notas y cartas de retención- Report cards and retention letters El tercer reporte de notas fue enviado a las casas el pasado 26 de Enero. El cuarto reporte de notas será enviado en Marzo 8 y el quinto en Mayo 3. (The third report card was sent home on Jan. 26. The 4th report card will be on March 8th and the 5th on May 3) Cartas de retención fueron enviadas junto con los estudiantes que se encuentran por debajo del nivel de su grado ó que no han progresado como se supone. (Retention letters were sent home with those students under grade level or who have not shown the adequately progress) ¿Qué puede hacer? What can you do? * Si no ha recibido servicios de tutorías llene los papeles para la próxima ronda. (if you have not sign up for tutoring, sign up for the second round coming soon) * Búsque algún amigo(a) ó usted ayúdelo(a) con la tarea ó para repasar para un examen. (Yourself or a friend can help him/her study for a test or complete and review the homework). *Tome tiempo durante el fin de semana para repasar conceptos de la semana anterior. (Set time aside during the weekend to review concepts from the previous week).

Examen ACCESS- (ACCESS Test) Los estudiantes en el programa de ESL toman el examen ACCESS 1 vez todos los años para evaluar sus habilidades en Inglés. (Students in the ESL program take the ACCESS test 1 time every year to evaluate their English proficiency). Cuatro áreas son examinadas: Leer, Escribir, Escuchar y Hablar. (Four domains are measured: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking). Dentro de las cuatro destrezas, 5 estándares son cubiertos. Lenguaje de Matemáticas, Ciencias, Estudios Sociales, Artes del Lenguaje, Lenguaje Social y de Instrucción. (Within the four domains, 5 standards are covered. Language of Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Social and Instructional Language) Los resultados determinan si el estudiante continúa teniendo limitaciones de habilidades en Inglés ó si sus destrezas son suficientes como para no recibir servicios de ESL. (Results establishes if student still has some limitations with English proficiency or if the skills are satisfactory and does not need services through the ESL program).

EOG’s Los exámenes de EOG (end of grade) son los que los estudiantes de 3ero a 8vo grado reciben al final del año. (EOG’s (end of grade) are the evaluations students in grades 3- 8 receive by the end of the school year.) La escala de calificación es del 1 al 4, siendo 1 lo más bajo y 4 lo más alto. El requisito es que los estudiantes obtengan 3 ó 4. (The scale goes from 1 to 4, 1 being the lowest and 4 being the highest. The requirement is that students receive a 3 or a 4). Las materias evaluadas son Lectura y Matemáticas. Los estudiantes en grados 5 y 8 también tiene que tomar el examen de Ciencias. (The subjects that are covered are Reading and Math. For students in grades 5 & 8, they have an additional test in Science). Si su niño(a) obtuvo un 2, es obligatorio que lo vuelva a tomar. Si su niño(a) obtuvo un 1, es a discreción de los padres si quieren que lo vuelvan a tomar o no. (If your child receives a 2 it is mandatory that he/she takes the test again. If your child receives a 1 it is up to you to make him/her take it again). Ésta calificación determina en gran medida si el estudiante debe ser aprobado ó si debe repetir el año. (This grade is going to be a determining factor whether your child can be promoted to the next grade or retained in the same grade one more year).
