Affirmative and Negative words Affirmative words are used to say that something does exist, or that it does happen. Alguién (someone) Algo (something) Algún (some…masc.) Alguno (s) same Alguna (s) (some…fem.) Siempre (always) También (also) Negative words are used to say that something doesn’t exist, or that it doesn’t happen. Nadie (no one) Nada (nothing) Ningún (not any or anyone) Ninguno same Ninguna (not any or anyone fem.) Nunca (never) Tampoco (neither )

Neno Pablo Pablo siempre tiene buena suerte. Neno nunca tiene buena suerte. Pablo tiene a alguien con quien hablar en la clase. Neno no tiene a nadie con quien hablar en la clase.

Neno Pablo Pablo trae algo con que escribir a la clase. Neno nunca trae con que escribir a clase. Pablo trae algún lápiz para escribir. Neno no trae ningún lápiz para escribir. Masc. sing. noun

Pablo trae algunos libros, pero Neno no trae ninguno. Pablo también trae su mochila a la clase, pero Neno tampoco trae la mochila a la clase. Pablo saca buenas notas, pero Neno saca malas notas en la clase.

Repaso En la clase de español no hablamos inglés. (un negativo) o En la clase de español no hablamos nunca inglés. (dos negativos) (In Spanish: either put just one negative word infront of the main conjugated verb OR Put No infront of the verb and a second more specific neg. word after the main verb.)

*Gender & # matter!!! -¿Alguien tiene algún lápiz* en la mochila? -No, nadie tiene ningún lápiz. (the “o” is dropped because the singular masculine noun is stated) OR Nadie tiene ninguno. -¿Alguien tiene algunos libros* en la mochila? -No, nadie tiene ningunos libros. *Gender & # matter!!!

-¿Siempre tienes chicle en la boca? -No, no tengo nunca chicle en la boca. OR Nunca tengo chicle en la boca. (Choose to put only one neg. word before the verb or two negatives, one before the main verb the other after it.) -¿Duerme alguien en clase todos los días? -Nadie duerme en la clase. (We tend to put Nadie before the noun.)

When you want to say “some,” change the ending of alguno so it matches what you’re describing in gender (masculine or feminine) and number (singular orplural): alguna chica, algunos libros, algunas chicas. The same is true for ninguno: ninguna clase, BUT Before a masculine singular noun, alguno and ninguno change to algún and ningún. No tengo ningún libro. Or No tengo ninguno.

Respuestas: Ningún is correct because it states the singular masculine noun after it… “estudiante” También is correct because is an affirmative Statement not an agreement to a neg. Algunas is correct because is an affirm. Sent. etc.
