Factores de vulnerabilidad Migrantes en situación irregular Mujeres, NNA en situación de abuso sexual, VD, tortura Personas en situación de explotación laboral Víctimas Potenciales de Trata Specific vulnerabilities of VoT for sexual exploitation Think about vulnerabilities related to HIV in each of these spheres… sexual violence is cross-cutting Personas en Explotación Sexual Comercial Particularidades de edad, genero y etnia Fuente: LSHTM 2003

Multiciplicidad de violaciones de derechos humanos Ruta de Trata Movimiento/ Tránsito Enganche y pre-partida Explotación Many ways to think about this – IOM likes to break it into three stages Pre-departure (country/community of origin) Travel and transit Destination Detention, deportation and criminal evidence (Re)integration Source: LSHTM 2003
Proceso de Tránsito Empieza el trauma Abuso físico y sexual para ejercer control Control sicológico (Traslados impredecibles, mentiras, amenazas, intimidación) Ocultamiento de documentos Ausencia de información y cuidados Peligros asociados a condiciones de viaje difíciles Venta y compra Note: the travel and transit stage is the period beginning with the person’s recruitment and ending with the arrival at the point of destination. Since illicit activities and movement usually begin at this stage when the traffickers’ primary concern is to avoid detection, the dangers facing trafficked victims increase. During the movement starts usually the abuse and violence by the traffickers that through different means want to break down the victim’s will and have them in control. This stage is also know as the time of the “start of the trauma" where the individual is in life threatening danger with little or no control and is subjected to different forms of physical, sexual and psychological abuse by traffickers. Trafficked victims may be exposed to dangerous modes of transportation, high-risk border crossing and arrest, threats and intimidations, rape and other forms of sexual abuse. They are bought and sold several times; their documents are taken away at this stage. (IOM Handbook).
Proceso de Explotación Abuso y violencia física Abuso sexual Violencia sicológica y mental Aislamiento social, exclusión, manipulación Abuso de sustancias (drogas/ alcohol) Carencia o cuidado médico precario Otros relacionados con el tipo de explotación Note: corresponds to page … of the workbook. Note: the type of abuse suffered by the victims is linked to the type of exploitation they underwent (sexual exploitation, forced labour, servitude), however a certain level of abuse and violence is shared by all types of exploitation. Amy, is this sentence clear – can you pls help to make it more clear? Note: The consequences reported by the trafficked victims who have been trafficked for sexual purposes are horrendous: in addition to the fact that they suffered similar injuries, infections and traumas as those suffered by women who are beaten, sexually abused or raped, the repeated events of traumas and the continuous manipulation, isolation, threats, deception increase the severity of the trauma that leaves long-lasting if not permanent signs on her/his personality and will determine significantly her/his future life. The same violence and abuse taking different forms and at different levels is exerted to victims trafficked for forced labour (in agriculture, mines, factories) being kept in inhuman living and working conditions. Note: provide some figures from the victims assisted by IOM Kosovo. During the phase of exploitation, the victims assisted by IOM Kosovo reported the following: they suffered repeated physical and psychological abuse (79%) of any kind, by the traffickers and their friends mostly. The majority of them (60 %) was also subjected to sexual abuse by the traffickers. The majority of the victims had limited and/or no freedom of movement: about 40% of the assisted victims of trafficking the freedom of movement was totally denied and 44% were allowed to go out of the premises only escorted by guards or taxi drivers in order for them not to escape. The big majority had limited access to food (only to the minimal quantity necessary to survive). Accommodations were always collective, often living in the bars, sleeping on chairs and sharing a couch among 3 or 4 women. To more than one third of the victims the medical care was denied, to the majority was given only in emergency cases.
