How to write my report

Checklist – what I need to include Cover page Contents page – with sections Introduction - aims of project - background information about Guadarrama Methods = explain how each test was conducted Results Analysis Conclusion Evaluation

Introduction Aim = explain here why fieldwork was conducted at the river, what were we testing in the river? Background information = research information about the river from source to mouth (number data would be useful in this section) What about the weather before and during the field work as well as the land, rock type and vegetation around the test sites

Method Explain how each test was conducted in your teams and describe the equipment used. Tests - Turbidity - Water temperature - Dissolved oxygen levels + saturation - PH You should briefly explain what each of these mean, what factors can change them and then explain how you collected your findings.

Results In this section you show your test findings in graphs, line, bar, scatter etc. Very simply, describe each test across the 4 sites and don’t forget to label your graphs Explain what you can learn about the river from the graphs. Link your graphs and explanation to the original aim / hypothesis Comparisons are good here, i.e. have 2 pieces of information of the one graph air vs. water temperature Analysis

Conclusion Explain whether or not your aim/hypothesis was correct Try to link your decision to the evidence that you gathered on the day.

Evaluation This section is very important. Here you will write about a few things that you and your group did well and some things you would improve the next time e.g. Using the testing kits – did you find each test easy to complete, did you struggle or ask for help at any point? Did testing get better after site 1. Did you lose any equipment?
