Comparatives You have learned más and menos in certain expressions.

Comparatives Me gusta el tenis pero me gusta más el fútbol. Te gustan las manzanas? Si, más o menos.

Comparatives We also use más / menos + adjective + qué (‘than’) to make comparisons.

Comparatives más / menos + adjective + qué Los zapatos de Nike son más populares que los zapatos de Addidas.

Comparatives más / menos + adjective + qué Jorge es menos serio que María.

Comparatives To compare things that are alike we use: tan + adjective + como

Comparatives Elena es tan alta como María. Elena is as tall as María.

Comparatives The adjectives bueno, malo, viejo, and joven have irregular comparative forms. We do not use más with them.

Comparatives bueno, a malo, a viejo, a joven mejor (que) peor (que) mayor (que) menor (que)

Comparatives Mejor, peor, mayor, and menor have plural forms ending in -es. However, they don’t have a different feminine form:

Comparatives Las hermanas de Pedro son menores que las hermanas de Juan.

Comparatives Mejor (better) is also the comparative form of bien (well), and peor (worse) also the comparative form of mal (badly).

Comparatives When used in this sense, mejor and peor have only one form.

Comparatives Graciela y Fabián son mejores que Susana y Gustavo en tenis.

Comparatives Graciela y Fabián juegan tenis mejor que Susana y Gustavo.

To say “as much” or “as many”, use: Tanto/a + noun + como (as much + noun + as) Tantos/as + noun + como (as many + noun + as)

Note Tanto agrees in gender and number with what is being compared. Ex: Hay tantas chicas como chicos.
