GUSTAR-TYPE VERBS As we remember, the literal translation of “Me gusta” is… “It is pleasing to me” In this case, the verb is doing something to someone In Spanish, we use INDERECT OBJECT (I.O.) PRONOUNS when the verb does an action to someone or something The I.O. is placed BEFORE the verb in a sentence INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS To me= a mí ME To you= a ti TE To him= a él LE To her= a ella To you (for.)= a Ud. To us= a nosotros NOS To you (pl)=a vosotros OS To them (m.)= a ellos LES To them (f.)= a ellas To you (for, pl.)= a Uds.

GUSTAR= to like ME GUSTA ME GUSTAN A MÍ NOS GUSTA NOS GUSTAN A NOSOTROS TE GUSTA TE GUSTAN A TÍ OS GUSTA OS GUSTAN A VOSOTROS LE GUSTA LE GUSTAN A __________ LES GUSTA LES GUSTAN A ____________

Asking Questions… You can use the same construction for GUSTAR and ENCANTAR to ask questions Would you like ________? Would you love ________? Follow the same pattern with the I.O.’s except use the conditional tense of the verb, i.e.: GUSTARÍA ENCANTARÍA ¿Te gustaría la sopa de pollo?
