Possessive Adjectives Possessive adjectives tell who owns something Here are some examples in English: my, your, her, our, etc.

Rule #1 - Placement Possessive adjectives are placed directly in front of the object Mi hermano = My brother Tu camisa = Your shirt

Rule #2 – Number All possessive adjectives must match the object in terms of number – singular or plural. Mi vs. Mis: mi libro – mis libros Tu vs. Tus: tu hermano – tus hermanos Su vs. Sus: su clase – sus clases Match with the object NOT the owner(s) Mis camisas – my shirts (one owner, multiple objects) Su casa– their house (multiple owners, one object)

Rule #3 – Gender (nuestro ONLY) This rule applies to NUESTRO/-A/-OS/-AS only The form of nuestro must match the object (not the owners) in terms of number (singular or plural) AND gender (masculine or feminine) Nuestro hermano Nuestra casa Nuestros libros Nuestras camisas

SU y SUS can be unclear (his, her, your, or their). Su casa – his house, her house, your house, their house?? Sometime it is necessary to clarify: For example: El padre de él – his father El hijo de ella – her son Los abuelos de ustedes – your grandparents Los primos de ellos – their cousins
