Hypothetical Consequences

If I had vacations, I would go fishing. Second Conditional USE: It is used to express unreal or improbable situations. Examples: If I had a million dollars, I would buy a big house. If we were in London today, we could be able to go to the concert in Hyde Park. If I had vacations, I would go fishing.

Form IF + past, + subject + would/ could + verb ( base form) If I were you, I would tell everything. If I were you, I could look for anew job opportunity. If I were your father, I wouldn’t give you so much money. If I had vacations, I would sleep the whole day. If I had vacations, I could go to the beach. If I won the lottery, I would travel around the word. NOTE: Utilizamos la forma del verbo TO BE ( WERE) con todos los pronombres personales cuando nos referirnos a situaciones hipotéticas de forma mas formal, utilizando el segundo condicional. Ejemplo: If I were…/ If she were …/ If we were ... Etc. Pero también es correcto utilizar If I was you… ( es común utilizar esta expresión de forma hablada en un lenguaje informal.

If I had a million dollars, I would buy a big house. OR We use a comma ( ,) If I had a million dollars, I would buy a big house. OR I would buy a big house if I had a million dollars,

If I were the president of the Mexican Republic, I would do a lot of things for my country.

If I had free time, I would practice soccer with my friends. If I were an astronaut, I would travel to the moon. If I had free time, I would spend the whole day with my girlfriend.
