Java is in everything from cell phones to parking meters. 4. All of this ensures that Java continues to create value for customers, developers, users and companies like Sun. Interesting Factoids: 1. Gillette - Testing tag technology through its supply chain by placing RFID tags in select products for the US market. If successful, up to half a billion tags could be placed on Gillette products over the next few years. 2. Goodyear -- wants to combine RFID tags with tire-pressure sensors to create "smart tires," that can communicate to a vehicle's electronic command modules to warn pending safety issues. 3. Visa, MasterCard and American Express brand cards deployed that contain Java Card technology. The technology license for these cards runs through various smart card suppliers who develop, manufacture and deliver the cards. Recently launched Visa Wave card in Asia: no signature is required and there is no need to hand the card to the cashier simply wave, pay and go. Visa Wave allows consumers a fast and convenient way to make payment within seconds. The world's first Visa Wave cards are issued by MBF Cards in Malaysia. 4. Getty Museum: With GettyGuide, the one million annual visitors to L.A.'s J. Paul Getty Museum will be able to access information on art objects and galleries via kiosks using standard Web browsers or via a location-based wireless handheld device.
