Adjectives agree in gender and number with the nouns or pronouns they modify. Mis amigos son canadienses. Laura es tímida.
Adjectives whose masculine form ends in –o have a feminine form that ends in –a. Guillermo es cubano. Yolanda es cubana. Ellos son cubanos Ellas son cubanas.
Adjectives that end in a consonant or –e have the same masculine and feminine forms. Elena es valiente. Jorge es valiente. Las estudiantes son inteligentes Los estudiantes son inteligentes.

Generally, adjectives follow the same rules as nouns to form the plural: add –s if it ends in a vowel, -es if it ends in a consonant. Ella es conversadora. El es conversador. Ellas son conversadoras. Ellos son conversadores.
Adjectives of nationality that end in a consonant add –a to form the feminine. If the adjective ends in –e or –a, the singular only has one form Nationalities are not capitalized in Spanish. El actor es español. La actríz es española. Ellos son españoles. Ignacio es costarricense. Pamela es costarricense. Ellos son costarricenses.
