Subject and Stressed Object Pronouns Most of the time, we don’t use subject pronouns. They should be used for: Emphasis Yo le di el regalo. (I gave her the gift.) To make a comparison or clarify a sentence El tiene buenas notas, pero ella tiene malas notas. (He has good grades, but she has bad grades.)

El profesor les dio el reportaje. (Who is “les?”) Use the phrase “a + subject pronoun” to clarify who the object of the preposition is. El profesor les dio el reportaje. (Who is “les?”) El profesor les dio el reportaje a ellos.
