The aim of this exercise is to get participants to think about author motivation with regards to their own journals and to learn about the journals of the other participants.

Ask how many participants actively commission content – reviews, case studies, opinion articles, etc. These are generally considered to be high value by readers. If there is any experience of commissioning articles in the room, ask them for their own experience of this to share with the participants.

Encourage them to suggest other AsiaJOLs to any authors they reject where the paper was of high quality, but did not fit with the scope of their journal.
