What is a direct object? Bill hit the ball. The object that directly receives the action of the verb. The direct object also answers the question “what?” or “whom?” Bill hit the ball. What did Bill hit? BALL= direct object

We can replace the name of the direct object with a pronoun We can replace the name of the direct object with a pronoun. (direct object pronoun) Bobby bought the flowers. Direct object pronoun placement You now know the direct object pronoun goes before the conjugated verb. There is also one more spot we can place the direct object pronoun in sentences……… Attached to an infinitive verb!!

Ejemplos They are going to visit us. (ir + a + infinitive) Ellos van a visitarnos. She doesn’t want to see it. Ella no quiere verlo. Robert is going to write it. Roberto va a escribirlo.

You have a choice!!! OR Yo lo voy a hacer. You can choose where to place the direct object pronoun if there is a conjugated verb and an infinitive in the same sentence! Yo voy a hacerlo. OR Yo lo voy a hacer.

Práctica I have them. (tables) Yo las tengo. I need to have it. (stapler) Yo necesito tenerla./ La necesito tener. Can I answer it? (question) ¿Puedo contestarla?/ ¿ La puedo contestar? We wear them.(coats) Nosotros los llevamos.
