La estructura Use the expressions tener que (+ infinitive) and deber (+ infinitive) when you wish to express what someone is obligated to do. Whereas tener que (+ infinitive) indicated what someone has to do, deber (+ infinitive) implies more of a moral obligation of what someone should do. Tener que (+ infinitive) To HAVE to do something Deber (+ infinitive) SHOULD/OUGHT to do something Deber (+ infinitive) is a very polite way to give a command Tengo que poner la mesa I have to set the table Debo ayudar a mi madre I should (ought to) help my mother.
