Direct Object Word Order The pronoun goes directly before the conjugated verb or attached to a verb in the infinitive form. Elena te quiere ver. Elena quiere verte. Miguel no lo debe hacer. Miguel no debe hacerlo.

When a noun that refers to a specific person is the direct object of the verb, then it gets a personal “a,” except after the verb tener. Pedro quiere a su madre. Pedro ve a su hermana y a su novia. Pedro llama a Carlos. Pedro necesita a su médico. Pedro busca un médico. (not specific person) Pedro tiene dos hermanos. (after tener)
