Director, Producer, Screenwriter, Sound Engineer Mexico, D.F

Roberto was born on January in Mexico, D.F. He had three brothers: Jose de Jesus Rodriguez, Ismael Rodriguez, Enrique Rodriguez and one sister: Consuelo Rodriguez. Their parents were Jose Ramay a director and Titina Romay an actress. With both parents in the film industry they took interest as well. He and his older brother Jose went to Los Angeles in 1926 The rest of his family: mother, father, and siblings arrived in 1928 and opened up a bakery in order to fund their careers.

He went to school in Mexico, D.F. then continued his schooling in the Escuela de Comercio y Administacion for two years. Both brothers also took English classes in their home town and California. They supported themselves through small jobs during the day and went to school by night Brooklyn High School. Roberto looked for jobs in Hollywood where he was an assistant in photography and mechanical design. He learned every job he assisted in. His brothers interest was electrical.

He worked around some famous people such as the Barrymore Brothers and Charles Chaplin. He then focused his career in operating cameras taking shots from planes. Both he and his brother Jose dedicated themselves to create a recording device that no longer needed the disc of images. Their first trial run was a movie named Sangre Mexicana which stared their younger brother Ismael. It was a success, at the end of 1930 they patent their design naming it Rodriguez Sound Recording System. All siblings were involved in the production, so in 1939 they created Production Rodriguez Hermanos.

His first film was Santa (1931), filmed in Mexico because president Pascual Ortiz Rubio asked him to film in Mexico. His debut film as a director was Vivire Otra Vez (1939) This production company made people like Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, and Blanca Estela Pavon famous. Overall he participated in more than 40 films in his entire career. He did all types of work but his preferred genre was for young children creating films like Caperucita Roja (Little Red Riding Hood) in That same film was prized with the Festival Infantil de la Plata. His most welcome film to artist was La Bandida, making many famous actors and actresses come together.

Santa (1932) Vivire Otra Vez (1939) Viva Mi Desgracia(1943) Baile Mi Rey (1951) Todos Son Mis Hijos (1951) Yo Soy Gallo Donde Quiera (1952) Preferio A Tu Padre (1952) Una Calle Entre Tu y Yo (1952) Venganza En El Circo (1953) Zandunga Para Tres (1953) Lo Que No Se Puede Perdonar (1953) Las Nenas Del 7 (1954) Que Bravas Son Las Costenas (1954) Mi Cancion Eres Tu (1955) La Sonrisa de la Virgen (1957) Mis Secretarias Privadas (1957) Caperucita y Sus Tres Amigos (1960) Tres Balas Perdidas (1960) El Gato Con Botas (1960) Caperucita y Pilgarcito Contra Los Monstruos (1960) Los Espadachines de la Reina (1961) La Bandida (1962) Nosotros Los Jovenes (1965) Sangre en el Rio Bravo (1965) El Dengue Del Amor (1965) La Gran Aventura (1968)

La Bandida is about two men who return home from The Revolution and find that their life at home has changed. One man is about to be widowed and the other figures out that his wife la bandida has moved on. Both these men try to pursue La Bandida although she is far from noticing them. In relation to the class I think this film takes a dramatic romance and shows what may families might have gone through when The Revolution was over. In a sense that towns were so small back then men tried to conquer the same woman.

His last directors film was in 1968 La Gran Aventura. He did not stop writing he continued to write screenplays. Some of his work was produced in the 80s. He died on January in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
