3  Pau Gasol was born in Spain on July 6,190. His full name is Pau Gasol Saez.  At the age of 12, when he was watching the original dream team on television at his house in Spain. This was his first sight of an America NBA player.  He originally wanted to be a doctor like his father, but when an opportunity came around to be a professional player he took it without hesitation.  In his first pro season with the Memphis Grizzlies he was the first European player to be named to the “NBA Rookie of the Year”. 5  In 2009 Pau Gasol finished the season with 18.9 points per game, 9.6 rebounds per game.  In Game two of the NBA Finals against the Magic he made the game tying shot to send the game to overtime.
