6 Hechos Culturales Argentina Kids in Argentina go to primary school from ages six through fourteen. They go to school in shifts, for four to five hours a day, with half of the students attending in the morning, and the other half attending in the afternoon. Students are required to wear a uniform, which is often a white or colored smock (like a lab coat) with regular clothes or another uniform underneath. Following primary school, students can go to secondary school to prepare for college or train for a job at a vocational school, but they first have to pass an exam to get in. Argentines pride themselves on their education, and they have one of the highest percentages of people who can read and write of any country in Latin America.

10 Hechos Culturales Argentina School is compulsory from ages five through fourteen. In most areas, children are required to attend one year of kindergarten followed by nine years of General Basic Education. After this, students who wish to continue their education attend three years of secondary education. In other areas, including Buenos Aires, students attend seven years of primary school and five years of secondary school. Secondary and higher education require an entrance examination.
