Affirmative Tú Commands

What are they? Tú commands = You are telling a person you would refer to as “tú” (the informal “you”) what to do. Affirmative = Positive You are telling someone WHAT to do rather than what NOT to do.

How are they formatted? For affirmative tú commands you use the regular él/ella/usted conjugation of the verb. Examples: Dobla a la derecha. Cruza la calle. Mira a la izquierda. Salta sobre la luna.

Pizarras blancas: Turn off the computer. Apaga la computadora. Speak in Spanish. Habla en español. Eat all the food. Come toda la comida. Buy this cell phone. Compra este teléfono celular.

Irregulars Decir  di Di la verdad. Hacer  haz Haz la tarea. Ir  ve Ve al banco. Poner  pon Pon el libro aquí Salir  sal Sal de la iglesia. Ser  sé Sé bueno. Tener  ten Ten cuidado. Venir  ven Ven aca.

Pizarras blancas: Turn on the TV. Pon la tele. Go out with María. Sal con María. Be careful with him. Ten cuidado con él. Come to my house at 8. Ven a mi casa a las ocho.

Tarea: Use your new vocabulary as well as previous vocab. Come up with 10 commands you could expect to hear or give on a normal day – at least 5 of these have to be longer than just a verb!
