When we want to ask someone to describe how something is in Spanish we use the question word ___________.

Ejemplos: ¿Cómo es tu profesora de ingles? What is your English teacher like? ¿Cómo son tus amigos? What are your friends like? ¿Cómo es tu colegio? What is your school like?

When we want to describe how someone or something is, we use the verb SER + adjective

Ejemplos: Ella es muy estricta, pero no es aburrida. She is very strict but not boring. Mis amigos son muy simpáticos y divertidos. My friends are very nice and fun.

IMPORTANTE! Everything must agree in gender and number. That means the _________ must agree with the ________.

Ejemplos: Un libro divertido -> Unos libros divertidos Una clase divertida -> Unas clases divertidas

Fix these sentences: Ella es muy bonito. Los chicos son comica. Este bolígrafo es feas.

Describing places

To ask where something is say: ¿Dónde esta….? (_______) ¿Dónde estan…? (________)

To describe where something is use: Esta OBJECT+ Están + al lado de (___________) Debajo de (___________) Lejos de (____________) Aquí (_______________) Cerca de (____________) allí (_____________) Encima de (___________)

Ejemplos: The food is on the table. La comida esta en la mesa. The book is on top of the chair. El libro esta encima de la silla. The grocery store is far from my house. El supermercado esta lejos de mi casa. The schools are near the library. Las escuelas estan cerca de la biblioteca. The dog is under the bed. El perro esta dejo de la cama.

Showing Possession

To show possession in Spanish, use the possessive adjectives: Mi _______ Tu _______ Su _______ Nuestro/a _________ Remeber! They must always agree in number and gender with the item that is being possessed.

Ejemplos: Here are my books and your notebook. The books of our Spanish professor are on top of the desk. This is her room.

Saying what you have

To there is or there are in Spanish use: Hay

To find out what a friend has ask: ¿Qué hay en tu cuarto? ¿Qué tienes en tu cuarto? ¿Cuántos bolígrafos y cuantas calculadoras hay en tu mochila?

Your friend might answer: En mi cuarto hay una silla. Tengo un escritorio. Hay tres bolígrafos y una calculadora.
