The simple present tense, which is the most common in Spanish & English, is also called Indicative because it is primarily used to make statements or ask questions. The present tense pattern is easy to follow for all REGULAR -ar, -er, and -ir verbs, with the stem staying the same and the endings always following the same pattern.

In order to conjugate a verb you must determine its infinitive form to figure out whether it belongs to the -ar,-er,or -ir category. Then, simply drop the infinitive ending, and add the appropriate one to indicate correct person and number.

-ar Personal Pronoun cantar -oyocanto -astútúcantas -aél,ella,ustedcanta -amosnosotros, nosotras cantamos -áisVosotros, vosotras cantáis -anEllos,ellas, ustedes cantan
