5 ¿Cuál es nuestro enfoque? (I)
Es evidente que en muchas ocasiones es necesario de hacer uso de la fuerza para resistir al mal y que las leyes son también necesarias sobre todo para impedir que haya personas que hagan daño a los demás por motivos egoístas y así proteger a los inocentes, pero es igualmente obvio que la aplicación de la ley y el miedo al castigo no hace que las personas dejen de ser egoísta y actúen bien

6 ¿Cuál es nuestro enfoque? (II)
Por esta razón, si aparte de unas leyes justas no hay una educación moral que haga que las personas se convenzan por sí mismas de que es mejor y más beneficioso para ellas actuar bien es imposible que se pueda construir un mundo justo y una paz duradera. Esta es una opinión compartida por Jesús, Buda, Confucio, Sócrates y Mahoma y otros fundadores de religiones y filósofos espiritualistas y morales.

10 El principal tema del trabajo de mi vida ha sido la búsqueda de los valores universales. Soy el autor de "Las Escrituras Sagradas: Una Antología Comparativa de los Textos Sagrados”. Al comparar las Escrituras Sagradas de las religiones del mundo en más de 150 temas, encontré que concuerdan en más del 80% de las veces. Devoción a Dios, su gran deseo de amor verdadero es la misión de cada religión. Como tal, la prosperidad de cada organización religiosa sola no puede ser el propósito de la religión. Dios demanda que lleguemos a conocer Su gran voluntad para salvar al mundo y que practiquemos esto en nuestras vidas. Esto es más importante que estudiar escrituras u observar ceremonias religiosas. Las religiones por demasiado tiempo han fracasado en relacionarse con el Dios viviente y de claramente tener Fe en Él. We have basic physical needs: food, shelter, wealth, comfort. We seek after physical well-being. We know that these needs must be met before we can address more internal needs. Yet, human beings are not satisfied by only material well-being. We seek the intangibles of truth, beauty, goodness and love. Only when we have a proper balance of our physical needs and spiritual or internal needs can we find genuine happiness. This is a simple, basic expression of the human reality. Thus, the Ambassadors for Peace Initiative emphasizes our need to orient ourselves around the highest human qualities, which are spiritual and moral.

However, many people consider them the ultimate goals, and they measure others by their material possessions. We learn many things in life, and our educational system conveys important knowledge to our youth. But the most important education is the education of the heart. The most important thing that we need to learn as human beings is how to give and receive love, how to get along as brothers and sisters. These lessons are best learned in the family.

Summary of research about the benefits of marriage: For Children * Parental divorce reduces the likelihood that children will graduate from college, and achieve high-status jobs. * Children who live with their own two married parents enjoy better physical health, on average, than children in other family forms. The health advantages of married homes remain even after taking into account socioeconomic status. * Parental divorce approximately doubles the odds that adult children will end up divorced. For Men * Married men earn between 10 and 40 percent more than single men with similar education and job histories. * Married people, especially married men, have longer life expectancies than otherwise similar singles. * Marriage increases the likelihood fathers will have good relationships with children. Sixty-five percent of young adults whose parents divorced had poor relationships with their fathers (compared to 29% from non-divorced families). For Women * Divorce and unmarried childbearing significantly increases poverty rates of both mothers and children. Between one-fifth and one-third of divorcing women end up in poverty as a result of divorce. * Married mothers have lower rates of depression than single or cohabiting mothers. * Married women appear to have a lower risk of domestic violence than cohabiting or dating women. Parents are the leaders of the family; parents are the the source of structure and order in the family. In effect the “governance” of the family is based around parents.

It’s a very simple principle, but one that we tend to forget and fail to apply. In an individualistic society, people are encouraged to think about “me” and be concerned about themselves first. But this fundamentally misses the basic principle of reciprocity in our world of interdependence. In serving the purpose of the whole – in “living for others” - the purpose of the individual is naturally included, because we are part of the whole.

Religious traditions are the bedrock and beginning point of cultures. We also know that in our world today, there are glaring examples of great violence done in the name of religion. However, each religious tradition contains wisdom that helps create a common ground for people of faith to cooperate for the common good.

Luchar puede ser necesario y justo: Para la defensa propia Para defender al débil u oprimido Para defender un valor muy alto La lucha no resuelve las causas del conflicto Derrotando a un enemigo no se disuelven sus reclamos ni se acaba con su resentimiento El derrotado esta inclinado a buscar revancha While fighting may sometimes be necessary, it does not resolve the problems which lead to conflict. For example, WWI ended with the defeat of the enemy, but the ensuing “peace” only resulted in the rise to power of Hitler, based on the resentment of the vanquished.

No necesitamos más religiones en el mundo, ni más religiosos. No necesitamos tampoco fanatismos ni fanáticos. Necesitamos hombres y mujeres de fe. La fe es un motor que nos mueve a ser agentes de cambio. Primero de nuestra propia vida y luego del mundo que nos rodea. La fe es un sentimiento profundo que abarca la totalidad de la persona. La fe influye en su manera de pensar y de actuar. Gente con una fe profunda en Dios y en los valores del reino de Dios. Esta será la clase de fe capaz de mover las montañas del odio, la corrupción, la inmoralidad y la injusticia. Esta será la clase de fe que pone la mira en los demás, no para destruirlos sino para ayudarlos. Rev. Andres Miranda

Se designa como Embajador para la Paz a aquellos individuos cuyas vidas son un ejemplo del ideal de una vida dedicada a los demás, y que se abocan a practicas que promueven: Valores morales universales, vida familiar firme, cooperación interreligiosa, armonía internacional, renovación de las Naciones Unidas, medios de comunicación responsables, y el establecimiento de una cultura de paz.  La Federación Interreligiosa e Internacional para la Paz Mundial se honra en reconocer como Embajador para la Paz a:
